Real bodies in advertising campaigns: more please

Massive round of applause to Gymshark for this advert, which shows a wonderful example of a real person.... someone with a common skin condition.

Did you know that 60% of the UK population will experience a skin condition during their lifetime. I'm one of them, and it's great to see someone like me represented in advertising.

I'm pretty sure this model has psoriasis. A very common skin condition affecting around 1.3 million people in the UK. Psoriasis occurs when your skin replaces itself every 3 to 7 days, rather than every 3 to 4 weeks. This leads to areas where skin cells build up into patches, and these patches are psoriasis. They are itchy and irritating, but they aren't contagious - something I wish more people were educated and less ignorant about!

Bravo to Gymshark for keeping it real. And bravo to this model for having the confidence to be proud of the skin she's in. More of this please!
